If you visit New York City, you will find much worth doing. You might stay for a week or a month, and you’ll have plenty every day to captivate and enchant you. You can check out some Broadway plays or musicals. Maybe you’ll see the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, and the Freedom Tower.
If you want NYC must-see attractions, you might take a sightseeing tour so you’ll visit several of them, and you can also get narration and facts about them at the same time. The sports fan visiting New York will probably want to see the most iconic sports venues. We’ll talk about some of them now.
Madison Square Garden
The current Madison Square Garden isn’t the original. It’s the building’s second location and incarnation. Still, you can’t ignore the Garden’s stature. It has hosted Knick games, Ranger games, huge boxing matches, and legendary WWF and WWE wrestling shows.
You can feel the excitement when you approach it. It sits in Manhattan like a sleeping giant, awaiting the next incredible sports feat that takes place there.
The Barclay’s Center
The Barclay’s Center, much like Madison Square Garden, continues making history. It has not been around as long, but the Nets play there, and they continue pursuing a championship since they came from New Jersey and made Brooklyn their home.
The Barclay’s Center boasts more modern design elements, and if you catch a game or event there, you’ll love the club seats. Club access isn’t cheap, but if you’re a dedicated sports fan, it’s probably worth it. You can always see concerts there as well.
Yankee Stadium
Head up to the Bronx, and you will find Yankee Stadium, the House that Ruth Built. The Babe never played in this location, though. The original Yankee Stadium was right across the street, and this new one opened up in 2009, the last time the Yanks won the World Series.
If the Yanks play there while you’re visiting, you must attend a game. You can see Aaron Judge, the new Yankee captain, as he hits another towering home run. You can also tour the stadium when the team’s not around. You can walk out on the field and imagine playing there. You can also find some great pizza places mere blocks away.
Citi Field
The Mets play over at Citi Field in Queens. You can get there by hopping on the 7 train and rumbling to the line’s end. The Mets have a huge payroll right now and just signed Justin Verlander, fresh off a World Series victory with the Astros. Huge expectations surround the team this year, and they play in a gorgeous facility.
You can attend a game there and watch the enormous apple pop out of the hole when the Mets hit a home run. You’ll enjoy some of the food, too, like a burger from Shake Shack.
The dedicated sports fan will love checking out these iconic NYC venues.
