Minimalist Advent Calendar

How to make a minimalist advent calendar?

One of my favorite months is December. Not just because Christmas is in December but I was born in this month and being a mom of five kids this period of the year is more full of magic, joy and happiness than normal weekdays. So I like much these days of the year, the only thing I don’t like is the advent calendar filled with chocolate and useless little toys.

First of all my kids get enough chocolate and sweets in December thanks to Santa Claus (here, in my country he comes on the evening of 5 December and not at Christmas) – if I economized this amount it would be enough till Easter – secondly, we already have a tone of useless toys, we don’t need more.

It took a long time for me to find the perfect version of advent calendar which can be made by using a few simple, common supplies you can find at home. What is the solution? A minimalist paper version kids can personalize as they want. Just CLICK HERE to download the free printable version! (Source.)

Tips

  • it’s made in A3 format size, but it can be printed in A4 format size too
  • print the first page on a paper board
  • if you print the ornaments on a self adhesive sticker printer paper, you have to just cut off them and stick on the Xmas-tree, in any other case you have to use paper glue or re-usable adhesive (it makes 3D feeling)
  • the third page made for kids who want to color the ornaments by themselves

Let’s have fun!

  1. I agree, too many candy and little toys will drive any mom crazy! I recently made a calendar and will let my kids open a gift or two on different days, maybe stuff they could use like socks or hair accessories. I love your simple idea!

    1. Hello Zan,
      Thanks for stopping by.
Yes, our apartment is full of useless little toys and I don’t want more so I had to find out this year something simple without candy and toys…
      Have a nice day.

  2. What a great idea! We do something different as well. Even though I only have 2 kids and they are now 13 and 16, since they were little, we made an advent calendar together and each day was something to do for someone else. They still enjoy it these days too!

As a mom of five kids little toys from Advent Calendar all around drive me crazy. This is why I made this minimalist version and my kids love it. I hope you’ll like it too.
      Have a nice day.
