How to dry fresh herbs?
Before the first chilly days set in as an untalented careful gardener, I asked myself how be able to conserve without great efforts my fresh herbs grown and randomly not dying out on my balcony.
It’s better to cook with fresh green herbs, but if you can’t get them because of the weather, it’s even better to conserve somehow your own fresh ones.
You can make it in many ways:
making infused oil
making herb salt
frosting them in ice cubes
making herb butter
I wanted an easier way and after some searching I found the best solution to conserve my fresh herbs. This is the dying in the microwave oven. (Source.)
Supplies
- fresh herbs
- paper towel
Tips
With this method you can dry easily:
- basil
- celery leaves
- chives
- chervil
- dill
- spearmint
- oregano
- parsley
- sage
- parsley
- tarragon
Before drying the herbs, wash them and weed out bad leaves then set aside to dry.
Depending on the power of microwave oven need 3-5 min to dry completely your herbs. First I put them in it for 3 min, then I increased the duration (30 sec) until herbes dried perfectly.
Weed out thick stems.
Don’t use recycled paper towel.
